Updates.

man, this light has mae a pretty significant change in the plants growth, there is a 2 inch space of the plant where the leaf nodes are further spaced out than the new growth, the new growth is a lot more dense, which is exactly what I want for now.

I have been adding a B-vitamin additive, you know the B-vitamins you take for energy etc, it's the same thing, but for plants it increases root and stem growth, I can see some of the new leaves are a little weird looking because the stem in the center is growing faster than the leaf itself, but I know the roots are growing very fast, so further growth will be fast.

pic's soon.

pictures, this light is so bright my camera can't pick up the light correctly, so all of the pictures look green, I've tried everything, and it doesn't have a night vision feature, so I don't know what to do. I mean, it's a really good camera, you can see the tiny hairs on my fingers if you click on the first pic, and I've taken really good pictures with it, it just doesn't like this light. And no, the lamp isn't damaged so UV rays aren't prevalent, and it doesn't put out a green light, it's extremely white light.

new growth.

I need to finish this grow box permanently, right now I have the drip system from my closet in there, and I still haven't got the ventilation perfect. I mean the whole thing will work fine for awile but, with the door closed the box gets up to about 95 degrees F, which is kind of hot for my taste, and my bedroom is easily 5 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, so I want to duct the heat out of the box, and into the attic, so the box stays cool, and so does my room, I also want to add another intake fan. I also want to have an ebb and flow system up and running within the week, because I don't think this drip system will do it when the plant get much bigger.

but anyway, the plant is doing well, just it hasn't been growing as fast as I had hoped, but I did just try to clone it again so thats healing, it's trying to grow outwards so multiple new stems are jetting out of the main stem, and it's in a hotter environment, but the leaves that are coming in are a lot closer together, oh and the clone still hasn't really done anything, but it's still alive.

Man, I got my grow box about 95% done, it's covered in plastic (I'm not going to use canvas and I'll explain why) I have the light in it and running, I have the new planter in there that I will use for an ebb and flow system, and I have a small tray in there for a drip system. All I have left to do is cut a hole in the side for a fan, install the fans, get the fans wired up, possibly install a duct system for the bulb, put a drain and inlet in the new planter I got, and put the hydroponics system together.

But heres the bad news about the whole thing, I wasn't thinking when I first purchased all the raw materials, and thought it out, but I am going to have to rebuild the box to make in twice as tall, see my largest plant is 10" tall, the planter it will sit in is about 8" tall, the light is 12" tall, so add that up, its 30" and the box is 36" tall, so my plant will be only 6 inches from a scorching hot bulb, plus with this bulb it will grow very fast, and I will run out of room.

I have pictures and video of the current system as it stands, but I am going to rebuild this thing, oh and just in case you guys are wondering why I haven't already, is because I just wanted to get it done really fast, and see what I could do with it.

building your own system from scratch isn't as easy as you may think, because you have to see the smallest problems before they occur, and sometimes while your doing that, you don't notice the huge problems.
