New lamp, new clone, new growroom.

new lamp, is a hydrofarm complete 400w metal halide system. This light is serious, I mean this isn't an average light to light up your bedroom, this can probably light up a 1000 or more sq foot parking lot very well. the bulb is easily 5x bigger than a 40 watt incandescent bulb, check it out.

Yeah, thats about 37000 lumens right there, strap on some sunglasses.
all the rest of the system is in a box, and I will have pictures of the rest of it later.

In the 3 by 3 box I made I will have 1 large ebb and flow system, that will be able to hold atmost 6 large plants, aswell as one or two drip systems, which will be for clones, my closet will have one drip system with misters, for fresh clones. after I run out of room for plants, I will get a greenhouse, but thats way down the line.

I should have the new system finished up within this week, and should have plants in it not long after that, but it may take awhile because my dad wants to be involved in the whole thing because he thinks I will be "unsafe" or something.

all of these grow rooms and all of this new equipment is helping me reach my long term goal, and I'm glad I can actually go somewhere with this hydroponic thing, and it's getting more and more exciting as I go.

More updates later.
peace out.

well, in my last couple posts, I have been talking about building a new cabinet for growing, well on Monday I went out and got the raw material, wood, particle board, hardware etc. and assembled the whole thing up on Tuesday, it's about %80 done, what needs to happen now is I need to cut 4 1/2 holes for pc fans in the top and side, buy a lamp and set it up, set up my hydroponics system with a larger planter, staple panda film and canvas to it, and put in the handle for the door. which sounds like a lot but it isn't in comparison to what I had to do to build it.

no pic's at the moment, I will have some when it's all finished.

I got some new pictures to post, I am going to hopefully get this whole new growing system planned out on paper tomorrow, and get mostly everything for it this weekend, and have it ready for a lamp, and plants by next week.

but yeah anyway as promised pictures!:

I put the clone in hydroton, because I got tired of looking at all the algae on it. I also changed my watering cycle to four times per day, to try and avoid root rot.

I think I might build a cabinet to grow in, or at least to grow my bigger plant in, with an H.I.D. lamp. I also want to try different types of hydroponics, like maybe an ebb/flow system, deep water culture, or even aeroponics. The cabenet I want to make will be an open wooden frame, that will be covered in two layers the first layer will be either "panda film" which is white on one side and black on the other, or a reflective material like whats in my closet, and the outer layer will be fabric like canvas for support, just stapled onto a wooden frame, and all of the sides will be screwed together just in case I have to disassemble down the road, but the front door and one of the sides will have hinges so the front of it can swing open. I want to use a 400w metal halide lamp, but I am stil thinking about the type of system I will use, probably ebb and flow. If all goes to plan, I will have an older pc sitting next to this, controlling two large fans for ventilation, as well as a web camera, so you guys can watch my plants live 24/7.

Just another one of my crazy ideas, I am still planning it all out, but hopefully it all works out, and I should have this made within a few months.

I wanted to add this picture aswell.

Remember, you can click on any of these pictures, to see a bigger view of them.
hmm, well the plants keep growing, I changed the nutrients on Saturday the stuff the clone was growing on, looked normal, but the stuff the larger plant was growing in looked like it was totally void of any nutrient properties, it looked like regular water, that was a little dirty... kind of weird, but I suppose thats fairly normal, just shows my plant is taking in a lot of nutrients. Even that little clone got into the growing spirit, and has four new leaves coming in, still no roots showing though. Those twenty seeds I got grew mold, and I don't think they are going to grow at all, I don't really care, because I can just take clones, that will end up being faster than growing from seeds, I will make two time line charts, and compare the amount of time to grow from seed and from a clone, but It's been only about one month, and it has new leaves. I have taken a lot of pictures in the past two weeks, but just haven't updated this, I will take a couple pictures right now, and put em up, so they are current, but it is hard to get a good picture of the larger one, because some leaves are bigger than others, and it isn't very full yet so it just doesn't work out well (I'm still trying to figure out this camera).

Thanks for viewing my blog!

This plant is growing like mad, today I am probably going to get a 400w metal halide lamp, and am going to move this guy into another room, so it will be growing even faster in the near future. Usually a 1 year old tea plant is 6 to 12 inches tall, I've been growing this guy for a little over 6 months, and it is about 5 and a half inches tall, and bushy!
